PACK LIST


The Youth Leadership Initiative has some required equipment, nothing more, nothing less. If you do not have some items, we encourage you to borrow the needed equipment. 


Your backpack has a maximum weight of 25-30lbs (this means total weight: sleeping bag, tent, clothes, water, etc.). You will need to make sure that you have approx. 2 liters of water for the first night. You will carry your backpack with you throughout weekend.

4MUS will supply all food and drinks on the trail.

Firearms are not allowed under any circumstance.

DOCUMENTS

(waterproof packed)

 

  • ID/driver’s license / Insurance card
  • I.C.E. (in case of emergency) home number or other contact person

 

CLOTHES

IMPORTANT—local temperatures for the location and adjust your pack accordingly. 

 

  • Long Pants for hiking 
  • Long sleeve shirt and/or short sleeve shirts 
  • Swimsuit/shorts (you will get wet)
  • Sweatshirt/fleece jacket
  • Workout clothes
  • Light weight rain jacket
  • Sunglasses/hat


SHOES

  • Hiking shoes/boots
  • Tennis shoes
  • Shower shoes 
  • Socks (wicking/wool recommended) - 3 pairs


TRANSPORT 

  • Backpack (25-30 pounds max weight)
  • Small day pack (optional)

 

SLEEPING

  • Sleeping bag (weather appropriate)
  • Sleeping mat (optional)
  • Tent per 2 persons (portable)


COOKING AND FOOD

  • Mug/aluminum cup (must be able to boil water)
  • Kinfe, Spoon, fork (or spork)
  • Water bottles (2 – 32oz. reusable bottles or 2-3L hydration pack) 
  • Bring bottles/hydration packs full (2L) of water for the first night
  • Electrolyte Powder (optional)
  • 4MUS will provide all food/do not bring any with you unless needed for medical reasons (alert 4MUS to medical needs)

 

HYGIENE AND CARE

  • Toiletries (wilderness/environmentally friendly)
  • Towel
  • Toilet Paper
  • Items to prevent blisters and chaffing (Hike Goo/Body Glide)
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug Spray
  • Chapstick or Vaseline
  • Personal Meds/Pain Meds (as needed)
  • Aspirin/Imodium
  • 4MUS will provide shovels for sanitation

 

OTHER

  • Flashlight/Headlamp
  • Bible (in a Ziploc bag to keep Bible dry) 
  • Hiking Poles/sticks (optional)
